Dear Mother

Please mother, please desist!
You have to let go sometime
I am a man now, and I must follow my own path
I’ve wandered far and wide to meet others for my cause
Like a traveling salesman, to distribute my wares…far and wide
For that is my true calling, I find!

The travels have been long and arduous;
I’ve encountered enemies and allies
Also temptation which might have derailed me...
From my restrictive itinerary…
But always, I sought solace and counsel
Knowing I must focus, and be tolerant

I am a seasoned advertiser
I’ve recruited others to my cause
I will delegate some of the projects to those
Who will administer them in my absence
So do not worry, things are going according to plan
The project is formidable, and propagates, and grows!

I have no regrets; I look forward to my journey
For one must look from within to follow the call
Isn’t everyone here for a specific reason?
It really is very simple
We are pawns in the game of life
Your tears can’t deter me; I must follow my own path

You've raised me well, for I truly know my Self
And I love you, and everyone else
I am up to the challenge, and will face..
These challenges with a brave heart
Those are given for a reason, and one must rise bravely
To the occasion, and not waver in self pity, and indecision.

Gather comfort in the knowledge, that I am
Detached, I am not this you can feel and touch
Yet, I am only too human mother
Your tears and laments affect me even more...
Than the lashes, or the nails perforating my hands
Please mother, please stop!
